Guest Post: Gina Spoofs Commercials

There’s nothing that gets under my 12 year old daughter’s skin than television commercials for drug companies, advertising medicine directly to the public — who totally aren’t qualified to choose their own treatment.

She wrote a spoof on these commercials that she wanted to share:

Do you get sleepy late at night?  Hungry when you donโ€™t eat for several hours?  Do you feel pain when you scrape your knee?  Or out of breath when youโ€™re underwater? These problems are horrible, and we have found a solution. Ask your doctor if you should try our new medicine, Probabliewontkilu.  This will fix all your problems! Our pill has been tested by many people we have found on the streets, so you know it is safe. It only has a few side effects, but, why donโ€™t you look at these happy pictures instead of reading them?

Possible side effects include trouble breathing, sudden death, loss of vision, vomiting, coma, heart attack, lung explosion, hair falling out, depression, growing an extra nose, eyeball disappearance, awkward outbursts of song and dance, inability to taste tomatoes, yelling at towels for making you dry, and curling up into a ball on the floor.

Ask your doctor now if Probabliewontkilu is right for you.

  1. Very funny and a great spoof. Thanks for sharing it.

  2. I used to be a drug rep, but these ads drive me nuts. They aren’t allowed in Canada, but if you watch US cable, you’re forced to watch them. And if you watch news channels, you are forced to watch ads for drugs dealing with old people problems. Um, no thanks!

  3. Thanks for sharing! I loved the spoof ๐Ÿ™‚

ROF,L! Gina obviously has a gift for satire.

  5. Gina is seriously witty. Laughed out loud as I read the spoof.

  6. Ha ha ha ha!!! I think my favorites are “Inability to taste tomaotes and yelling at towels for making you cry.”

  7. Love it, Dianne! Isn’t it just hilarious when they say a possible side-effect is death when all you need is to clear up something like a sinus infection? ๐Ÿ™‚

    I like Gina’s sense of humor ๐Ÿ˜‰

  9. Hi Dianne .. that is just great and will provide so much laughter – honestly your 12 year old has her head screwed on in the right direction!!

Probabliewontkilu – best pill on the planet … take with lucozade for that extra kick in the pants – Cheers Hilary

  10. Love it. Those commercials drive me crazy. Especially love the list of side effects.

    This is a great spoof. I think I’d get along with Gina ๐Ÿ™‚ #probabliewontkilu <3 <3

  12. Absolutely love this! Those commercials kill me too.

  13. Julie Dao says:

Where can I order probabliewontkilu? I scraped my knee and it hurts and I need a miracle fix! Now! For the low price of $39.99 a month plus S&H!

  14. Joanne Fritz says:

Excellent! “Awkward outbursts of song and dance.” Your daughter has a talent for parody.

In our family, we always make fun of the ads in which the side effects are far worse than the disease. And that’s why I won’t go on Humira. I’d rather put up with RA than chance having “cancer, a heart attack or possible death” from the medication.
