Where I Went …

So a few weeks ago I mentioned that my husband had come up with a great idea for distracting me when everyone went back to school so I wouldn’t feel sad, or lonely, or like I’d made a horrible mistake and what was I doing thinking I could write full time …?!?!

Bob was traveling for business to Fort Myers, Florida, so I went with him and stayed at the Sanibel Harbor Resort.

I’d been feeling a little frustrated and burned out. Here I was, now a full time writer, and I didn’t have the heart to get much writing done this summer. Turns out, all I needed was a change of venue …

In the hammock

… and attitude …

… because pretty soon I was cranking out something new.

I was mostly on my own during the day while my husband worked. But he did have one morning off and we took a waverunner tour to see dolphins!

Best “first week of school” EVER!

  1. There you go! You just needed something to recharge your creative batteries.
Cool you got to see dolphins. There are a lot of them in that area.

Hi Dianne .. it sounded as though you just needed that nudge with a gentle break inbetween .. and lovely to spend that time with hubby … and then not go to school – yay for that! Good luck with the new project …

Oh and I learnt that caged graves – were probably caged to keep the grave robbers out … the medics needed the bodies to do ‘their form of autopses’ … am I right?! Cheers Hilary

  4. Awesome! How fun to see “wild” dolphins up to close. Yeah! to the first week of school.

  5. Now, that’s a great way to find your muse! (and wonderful that your husband helped you with it.) Did you see any dolphins?

  6. Awesome, Dianne. We all need a break sometimes. Glad you’re getting back into your writing.

Now that’s a great first week of school. It’s also an awesome way to get your muse going again. Sand, sun, writing all day…pure heaven.

  9. Yah, it’s amazing how much good a change of scenery can do. ^_^ I’ve gotten a lot of creative work done since getting back from DragonCon, the vacation really helped.

You were only a hop skip and a jump from my favorite vaca spot: Sanibel Island. I can’t wait to go back next spring.

  11. Nice! I bet you’re moving now. =) I was feeling the same way while we were cramped into our tiny vacation rental between houses, but now…there’s space and the brain is expanding. Watch out world! 😉
