Having shared the useful function of the dog last week, I feel obligated to give the cat credit for her role in the household:
THE EXTERMINATOR!!!!!
Yeah, I know that moth was on the outside of the glass. However, she makes some pretty amazing leaps to catch insects inside the house, too — moths, mosquitoes, flies.
And she is determined. Nothing, nothing gets in her way … lamps, glasses full of water, people …
Once Luna has managed to smash the winged creature against a wall or window and it falls to the floor, she pads at it gently, sniffs it, and then down the hatch it goes. No need to treat the cat. The act is its own reward.
Luna has springs in her feet.
Gross she eats them, but then you don’t have to clean up bug scat afterwards, so that’s a plus.
That was a fantastic leap. I love that she is so determined.
Great that your cat is so competent in killing bugs.
Hi Dianne – well she knows a good diet – the only frustrating thing is going to be the splat left on the door … and she does jump high … cheers Hilary
I keep on considering getting a cat … if only they didn’t shed so much.
That looks very familiar. 😛 Cats are very mighty hunters.
That’s one talented kitty 🙂 Our cats hunt (barn cats), but I haven’t seen them go after bugs yet. I can’t imagine the splats it causes though.
Wow!! Looks like you have quite the helper!
I think of mine as a silent alarm. He’ll suddenly look toward the door and sneak over to a window to take a look. Sure sometimes it’s a bird but mostly it’s people. hehehe

Hahaha! Cats are hilarious! At least Luna eats them instead of bringing them to you and giving you a “present.” 😉
Our cats are mighty bug hunters, too, so we get that same leaping and pouncing action at our house in stereo. They’re too funny, aren’t they? Talk about cheap entertainment. There have been a number of wasps in our house, too, though, and I reeeeally don’t want them to catch of one of them. They aren’t at all impressed with me when I kill the wasps and take them away.
LOL! I love it. A cat is an exterminator. If we could deal with the allergies, I would have a cat just for that reason. And cuddling too.
Sounds like she stays entertained!
Our dog won’t kill the buy, but she’ll eat it after you do. I’d much rather not have to deal w/killing or the clean up! =)
This is all just further proof that cats are awesome. No, being a Leo doesn’t make me prejudiced, why would you say that. 😛
Lately our cats have taken to sparring with each other, so we have to spend all our time breaking them up. Gone are the days where they all jsut sat around looking spoiled.
At least your cat kills them! Half the time, mine wait for me to do it.
They’re fuzzy chickens.
