It feels like a long time since I’ve written a post or visited any blogs, but I can report that I made productive use of my month-long hiatus. I’m feeling refreshed and ready to socialize again. I can’t wait to find out what you’ve all been up to (besides AtoZing, of course).
Over spring break at the beginning of April, I started a new WIP and wrote 15k words in that week alone! Since then, I’ve doubled that amount, and it’s currently at 33k and going strong. This story is a pretty big risk for me. It’s a contemporary fantasy that has me writing about things like tattoos and daggers and motorcycles (where the heck did all this come from?), and sometimes I doubt I can pull it off. But so far, every time I complete a chapter, I know what has to happen in the next one. Hopefully, I can follow this path all the way to the end!
Even getting THE CAGED GRAVES back for a second round of revisions and line editing didn’t slow me down much. I completed those revisions (granted, they weren’t as intense as the first set) and still kept working on the WIP. I’m told THE CAGED GRAVES will be on the Clarion Spring 2013 list, so I’m excited to get an estimate of the publication date. Yay!
Besides all the writing, I whipped the landscaping into shape. Columbines (one of my favorites) are currently in bloom, with the irises not far behind. I chauffeured The Dread Daughters to play practices, band concerts, and study groups. I watched Season 1 and 2 of The Walking Dead via streaming and got totally hooked. And um … yeah, maybe that’s it for April. Not too shabby, eh?
On Wednesday, I’ll be kicking off May with First Impressions. See you soon!

Welcome back. I’m glad your month has been so fruitful. After the A to Z challenge, I’m exhausted and glad to change my blogging schedule will go back to normal. Ugh!
Hi Dianne! It sounds like you’ve had quite a productive hiatus. Glad to have you back blogging.

PUTTING WORDS DOWN ON PAPER
Hi there! Great to see you back. Sounds like you had an amazingly productive April! 🙂
You weren’t the only one who went underground in April. Seems like the spring cleaning bug translated into “crawl under a rock and write like the wind!” for a lot of us. I’ve always meant to chart my creative spurts to see if there’s a pattern; maybe I’m more productive in one season or another. But then I remember that I’m way too lazy to keep track of stuff like that.
Welcome back!
Your knew WIP sounds right up my alley. It’s cool that you’ve been able to stay focused.
Welcome back! Oooh, your new wip sounds dangerous! lol. Hope I’m in line to beta!
So glad the edits are going well. I can’t wait until 2013 when I can read your book!
Congrats on the the writing and editing. Sounds like your month hiatus was well-timed and used.
Welcome back! Wow, you sure put your time to good use. I, um, blogged. Other stuff, too, but mostly, I, um, blogged. A-Z was quite a fun ride, but I’m getting too old for all that exercising. (Blog hopping, silly.)
Wow! So many new words!!! You never cease to amaze me. Glad your April was so productive.
Far as what I’ve been up to, mine was too though lots of time spent waiting on one thing or another…a month of huge changes too (my daughter is in AZ now) and of course finishing up the book and all. Soon to see the payoff for all that hard work and eagerly awaiting a move in early June too to a much better place.
Lots to be grateful for, and I say bring on May! Glad you’re back!
xoxo

Love the sound of that WIP. =)
Dang, woman — you’ve been busy! Congrats on the WIP. I love when it flows like that!
Don’t you love it when things flow. Sounds like and interesting book. Can’t wait to read THE CAGED GRAVES. I still have to go check them out–for real.
Glad you’re back. I will have to get a first impressions done sometime soon. Thanks.
Excuse me while I adjust my reading glasses, did you say CONTEMPORARY?!?!? Woot, girl. 😀 Can’t wait to hear more!
Welcome back to blogging. I find your blog very interesting.
