The publishing world is like that. Months and months of NO ACTIVITY. And then a bunch of stuff happens all at the same time.
I’ve seen a semi-final cut of THE SPIRIT GAME movie. I’ll share that experience in a separate blog post, but I feel like a tease telling you about it when — unless you frequent film festivals — you’re probably won’t have the chance to see it for a year. The producer tells me that they are currently applying for admittance to film festivals, and the film will not be available for download or rental until next year. But I can tell you now, it was 10 minutes of awesome.
It’s still a few months before THE CAGED GRAVES comes out. I haven’t seen any “big” reviews yet (like Kirkus, Booklist, School Library Journal), but a couple ARC reviews have trickled onto Goodreads. Plus, I ordered t-shirts. And when I get them, I expect I’ll want to give some away …
I’m also closing in on the completion of the first draft of THE EIGHTH DAY #2. Since the first draft is always hardest for me, I wanted to get that done before I got caught up in promotions for TCG. And something awesome about HarperCollins – they’re holding back the copy-editing of Book 1 until I finish Book 2, just so I can change anything I need to make the books work together.
And oh yeah, I’m still expected to show up at work every day and teach the kids.
I’m trying to keep up with everybody’s blogs, but I don’t get around as much as I like. So tell me, what’s been keeping YOU busy lately?
Awesome how Harper is helping you get book 2 right by holding back on edits for book 1.
I’m busy with my blog, but finally catching up. I’m working on some skills I’ll need when I need to look for a job next year when I get laid off (my company’s closing) and researching agents to query. And going to work like you and taking care of my family. Yeah, it’s hard to juggle.
I LUV that t-shirt!! Me want one!! In pink… 🙂
I am so proud of you, Dianne. And I’m just as proud to know you and call you friend. (Geez, now I sound like that old cartoon character the said “I’m going to hug and kiss and squeeze you to death.”) LOL
No, really. You are a bright star. Keep shining so I can follow in your footsteps.
Gorgeous T-shirt! You’re a busy girl 🙂 Glad to see everything’s working out so well!
Grad school has been keeping me crazy busy 🙂
Love that T-shirt! And the movie sounds absolutely awesome-sauce. Now all you have to do is hold on to your sanity while you juggle your writing and teaching careers. Piece of cake, right? 🙂
Oh, I love the shirt! Who did the artwork?
You’re getting so much done! I can’t wait to read the Caged Graves. I’m still so entranced with that cover and the story concept!
well, you know what I’m doing 🙂 And I want one of those tees, too! Who designed them? So cool.
So much to do and so proud of you for doing it all. I’m working all day, writing all night, and trying to find new work in between. But the weekends are all play. I hope you find some time for that too (skiing?!) : )
How exciting! I can’t wait until the book comes out. Wish I could get my hands on an ARC!
Hi Dianne .. it’s going to be so worth it – for now … it does sound like lots is going on – enjoy what you can … but so helpful that Harper-Collins is helping you with the books –
Good luck – cheers Hilary
You’ve got lots of awesome going on! I’m making great progress in my revisions, but that’s about it for me.
I just finished the first edit of my new WIP (which is always the hardest for me). AND…I gave a copy of We Hear the Dead to my daughter for her birthday. She’s excited to read it and was even more excited when she found out I knew the author! 🙂
Huge stuff ahead for you, good times! :~) You deserve every bit of success coming your way. I can’t wait to have a shelf with a section for all of your books. I can’t wait to be able to say that I was an online friend of yours before you were a household name :~)
I’ve been busy with my Wattpad adventure and wanting to get started on the first rewrite/revision of my first draft from last November. Been sick almost three weeks though so that process has ground to a halt. Now I don’t expect to start until next week, or until the new thing with Wattpad is up and going…
hugs

Oh, I mostly lay around eating bonbons. Just kidding, but whatever I’m doing sure doesn’t measure up to all the over-the-top cool things going on with you. Woo HOO. Enjoy.
Ha. Well, you know the answer to that question. Now I’ve got to settle down, stop guzzling champagne, and get some work done on the WiP.
How awesome must that be, to see your characters talking and walking around on screen? So, so cool!
Sounds like you have a ton of awesome! And yay for still liking your job. 😉
HI, Dianne,
Wow, you are the busy lady. I am so excited for you, the movie, your book coming out, and finishing your first draft.
I wish I had some exciting news, but I manage to keep busy. LOL.
Stil working on my first novel’s hundred plus re-write. Then I get to work on BG again and fine tune it.
Another rejection yesterday, but that par for the course.
I am just happy to cheer on my blogger friend’s successes!
