It’s about time. After a muggy, sweaty September, we’re finally seeing some fall weather in southeastern Pennsylvania. This is the view along one of the White Clay Creek trails, where we ride bikes and walk Sorcia.
Things have slowed down for me, in terms of writing, and I presently have a little downtime. It’s funny – I managed to keep up a 3 day-a-week blogging schedule while I was editing The Caged Graves and revising my WIP and critiquing multiple manuscripts for other writers. Now that I have a break, I find myself with very little to say.
A couple weeks ago, I had no post for Friday. I almost posted to say as much, but it seemed a waste of YOUR time for me to post that I had nothing to post. So I just skipped, and the world didn’t end. Marcy Hatch emailed to check on me. Thanks, Marcy!
I think, for awhile, I’m going to knock the blogging back to Monday and Wednesday except for First Impressions and scheduled events – or if I have something exciting to share. (That would be nice. Where do I order up some good news?) I’ll still be around to your blogs as often as I can be.
I’m planning to use my spare time to read. There’s a long list of books I want to read, and it always seems that reading for pleasure is the thing that gets pushed off the schedule when I’m writing and critiquing and lesson planning and correcting student work. Well, this fall, I plan on moving reading up my priority list.

I hear ya. I did the same thing recently. I’m focusing on rewrites right now and trying to compile my demand for french nationality. So blogging is taking a back seat, yet again:)

I’ve decided to follow suit, although I’ll be skipping Wednesdays. Hopefully this will give me more time to write and read other people’s blogs.
Autumn has fallen here, too.
There must be something in the autumn air; I’ve been toying with the idea of cutting back to two posts a week, too. Haven’t decided for sure, though. This fall, I hope to spend more time with the grandchildren, and to get serious about starting my next book.
I just finished Megan Abbott’s Dare Me and LOVED IT. Now I’m on to more serious stuff prescribed by my book club. Strange how I can’t ever bring myself to finish the serious stuff in three days flat.

I always find time to read. But this fall I need to make time to write.
I feel like I went through the wringer for the last year getting my WIP ready to query. I’m taking Sept-Nov off. And maybe more if I feel like it. As a matter of fact, depending on how the query situation goes, it may be a very loooong vacation.
I feel more like writing posts when I’m in the middle of a creative spurt. It’s good to give yourself a break.
With self-publishing underway, I’ve got promoting to do plus a few other stories that I’ve got to get started, continue rewrites, work on revisions and a sequel to do for Neverlove.
Yeah, going to be a bit busy this fall and well into winter lol!
It is nice to get some cold weather to knock off the mosquitos. This summer the mosquitos were atrocious. (Does “mosquitios” have an “e”?)It takes a lot to get Maria and I to come inside but unless you covered yourself in Deet, you just couldn’t stand it. They’d bite right through your clothes.
Hmmm. Must be going around–I’ve cut back, too. About once a week is what I’m managing on the blog lately. I’ve been reading more, too, which is something I’d barely been managing to squeeze in for a long time. Feels good to get back to the real well of creativity.
I guess sometimes we just need a break. 🙂
I hear ya. I went back to work this fall after 9 years being home with my kids, and I’m having to relearn time management skills.

I’m tired of blogging. Work is too much too. I wish I could stop everything else to focus on the writing, but I have to fit it in when I can. Lately it’s not fitting in as much as I’d like. Oh jeez!
