How many times have you been asked that question? For me, it’s like once a month.
I will usually spend some time talking to the person about how they should blog and use the internet for resources. Sometimes I will suggest they join an online group of writers to learn more. Sometimes, people take my advice. Sometimes they look disappointed — as if there’s a secret short cut I’m keeping from them.
I wrote about that once — the F13 Button. (Shhh. Don’t tell the uninitiated!)
But today I stumbled upon the PERFECT reference chart for someone new to the publishing world. I bookmarked it. You should bookmark it.
I wonder if the creator would sell laminated copies of this chart for me to hand out …
Lol. Excellent chart for the newbie!
That is awesome! Love that chart.
Thanks for sharing the chart, Dianne!
I’ve met a lot of people who think success is about luck and aren’t interested in working for it. I think the explosion of mediocre or bad self-pubbed books proves it. The sad thing is, these people can point to badly-written books that became bestsellers to prove “luck” works after all…
Have a great New Year celebration, Dianne! 🙂
That’s awesome. It needs to be emailed to everyone whose blog description has “writer” in it.
Love this, Diane! I’ll have to keep it mind.
Happy New Year!
That chart is awesome. And so accurate. Thanks for sharing.
What a terrific chart. Funny AND helpful. Happy New Year, Dianne!
Perfect chart.
Thanks Dianne .. as you’ve noted great chart – always so useful to have the flow chart set out!
Happy 2014 – Hilary
LOL! That’s perfect.
Happy New Year, Dianne! May 2014 be good to you and yours. 🙂
LOL!! That’s too perfect 🙂
That’s awesome. I love how pretty much everything goes back to write a new book. So true.
The arrows directing you back up are very accurate… Try, try and try again!
I get questions all the time about how to make a full-time income off just writing. People are always disappointed that the “secret” is working hard and specializing in a two or three areas. Everyone wants a shortcut and writers like Stephenie Meyer don’t help with the perception that such a backdoor exists.
I’m a big chart-maker, so I enjoyed seeing this one. Happy New Year!
I was just hoping you’d give me a short-cut…:) I’m finally catching up on blogs – your 8th-Day cover looks awesome! Happy new year!
I was just hoping you’d give me a short-cut 🙂 Finally catching up on blogs…love your eighth-day cover! Happy New YEar!
The F13 button- that’s a clever way of putting it. Since I’m not a published author, I don’t get many questions about how to get published. But the one thing that rubs me the wrong way at times is when I’m asked, “Why aren’t you published yet?”
